U.S. Renewable Energy Exports Growing
Written by Michelle Erbeyi
According to several recent reports, the USA leads the world in renewable energy technology development and new investment. Increasing interest in renewable energy around the world creates growing market opportunities for U.S. technology and service providers in this sector. With support from the Export-Import Bank of the United States, green-technology exports are indeed growing and facilitating job creation for U.S. employees domestically and internationally.
Two days ago, Ex-Im Bank announced $48.6 million of financing for renewable energy exports—both equipment and services—to support a Novo Gramacho Biogas project in Brazil, generating 165 new jobs in seven states: Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, California, Michigan, Missouri and Texas. The financing is covered under a 12-year tenor and this represents the first biogas reclamation and development transaction for Ex-Im.
Not only does Ex-Im Bank financing assist U.S. exporters in selling their goods abroad, but it also provides opportunities for long-term financing for international buyers in countries that have limited resources for long-term financing for renewable energy projects.
Since 1994, Westar Trade Resources has specialized in renewable energy and value-added agricultural financing through a variety of government enhanced funding programs including the USDA, DOE and Ex-Im Bank. Westar’s projects range in size with smaller projects starting at $1 million and going up to $500 million for larger projects and we can assist your firm in accessing this rapidly growing international market.
